Why did O’Neill quit? Wages and poor signings.

Martin O’Neill has left Aston Villa but we’ve not been officially told why yet. The official statements from the club and O’Neill do not indicate the reasons for his departure but it seems to be a dispute over transfer funds.

Why didn't I do this 6 weeks ago?
Martin O’Neill has resigned as manager of Aston Villa effective immediately. A disagreement over transfer funds from the imminent sale of James Milner appears to be the cause of his resignation.
